I have been a reader and subscriber for years and my mom before that. Of late I cannot link my subscription to the app or website. Link it, and it does note recognize it.

literally tempted to cancel my subscription. magazines say they downloaded, but don’t seem to be viewable offline. and now some articles seem to “stick” making it impossible to scroll past the first screen of content. super frustrating, to the point of making my subscription a waste of money.

Will often unexpectedly restart and won’t keep my place in an article if I leave the app and come back.
  • I’d like a response to any of the privacy concerns

Why are you ignoring the warnings from reviews citing your false need to invade privacy? That’s just ridiculous. Enough with it, you’re a world class magazine, but don’t be Facebook. Delete that unnecessary aspect and I’ll buy a subscription.

Very frustrating app. Subscribed to digital only but app won't link to the subscription which was made through the Atlantic site. Not a very nice welcome.
  • Password editing doesn’t match website

Website accepted a complex 16-character password including the special characters % and & but the iPad app said password invalid. It was only when password was changed on the website to a simple 8-character one without special characters that the app accepted it.

Makes no sense to not have a “search” function on the app?
  • A couple missing features and a bug

I love the Atlantic app! I think that it has come so far from a couple of years ago when it was just clunky and almost unusable. The interface feels much cleaner now and it all is laid out better. Even so, however, I can’t give it five stars for the following reasons. First, the search functionality is not available on the iOS app. It’s in the FAQ so developers are aware of this, but I think that is a pressing issue. Even if it was only available to premium subscribers, I would pay to support and gain that functionality. Next, on the topic of search, I tried to click on an Author’s name to see all of the articles he wrote. This brought me to an in-app web browser of the Atlantic online. That’s alright if it can integrate with the app and if clicking on an article would bring me back, but it doesn’t. Last, there’s a slight bug when rotating the article. On iPad, when you rotate from portrait to landscape and back, the article loses its place and you have to start over and find your place again. This is really frustrating for cover stories that are extremely long. Other than that, great app! Like I said, definitely improved!
