  • Doesn’t recognize subscription

    Whenever I login on iPhone or iPad, since updating to iOS 13, it doesn’t recognize my subscription and only offers choice to purchase or subscribe.

    Good luck if you have trouble with this app by Zinio. I called the publisher of “The Week” when I couldn’t download the latest issue and all they could give me was an email for tech support. Five hours later I got a reply asking me for the magazine’s name. Good magazine, terrible app support. I will have to cancel my subscription if I can’t download it.

  • The app just gets worse and worse

    In it’s latest version one can’t even share a link to an article. I used to recommend The Week to all my friends but now I can’t even share examples of content they might like and decide to subscribe. The navigation at least has been improved from horrible to barely tolerable. I love the magazine, have subscribed for many years and up until about two years ago the app was fine. Now I hate it more than any other app on my iPad.

    Recent update seems to have screwed it all up. There doesn’t seem to be a way to download and use offline and it’s just generally confusing and cumbersome.

    I have always enjoyed the week’s overview coverage of the big news along with its promotion of smaller stories I don’t necessarily find from other sources. This app, however, was never great, and now is barely functional. A few gripes that need to be addressed: 1. Do the basic stuff correctly - every week, there are three or four page turns that cause the app to freeze. Current workaround is to view the stuck pages in pdf mode. 2. Once I open an issue, if I close the app and come back later the app return to that page. I don’t want to start at the app home page if I’m in the middle of an issue.
  • Cannot access paid active subscription. Zero stars.

    Update 9/2019: Can no longer access issues from the app with an active subscription. The previous update was terrible and made the app far worse. This recent update seems to have corrected a lot of what was wrong. But to access the issues within the app you have to create a new separate account within the app even if you technically already have an account with The Week. I think this was confusing for most people who’ve given poor reviews, including myself, because I assumed I didn’t need to create an account because I already had one. Plus there is a login screen that lets you try and login with your email address and regular account number that simply does not work. So I was left wondering why I couldn’t access my issues. I contacted customer service and they blew me off for something they should’ve been aware of. So I finally said screw it and just created an account within the app and what do you know now I can access my issues. Given that the reviews are being bombarded with one star reviews you would think customer service would be aware and simply explain what needs to be done. So I updated to three stars for the quality of the new app but the customer service and implementation was terrible.

    This app has become much harder to use and much less attractive since it moved to Zinio, whatever that is. Please take it back and make it, again, more like The Week UK app.
  • The new “the week” app

    I cannot find the word to describe how dissatisfied I am with the new app. Thank goodness I also receive a print addition. A call to customer support is answered by directing me to their digital provider who cannot provide a product that recognizes my logonid. A one-star rating is too good, zero-star is appropriate. An update, 11-Aug-2019: the app works - sort of. It recognizes my url as a subscriber, but will not allow me to read an issue. My only option are buy an issue or buy a subscription. Please return to the old app that worked. As of 1-Sept-2019 the app does not allow me to read issues. same problems as 11-aug. A sad commentary that a good publication would hand off digital access to a very poor application provider. My current rating is still zero-star!
