  • Duo vs Mango vs Memrise

    By Trentman183
Memrise is my favorite and the most comprehensive. Grammar listening speaking vocab and real life videos. Duo is all of above with but less in depth and less colloquial Mango is best for cultural understanding if you have no background in a new language but otherwise least fav
  • Font size customization and lesson options

    By LovedJames
Thank you all for you hard work. I humbly as to please add the ability to change font sizes. Most of my mistakes are not being able to see the font especially on the iPad. And as a add on can we have the option to do the written quiz part. During the difficult words section I’m forced to write down the answers and make mistakes even though I know the answer when I hear the word. I want to focus on my listening and reading skills not writing. So difficult words section discourage me from using this app. Thank you for listening and be safe.

  • Wish

I wish there was a feature where I could practice a specific word. For instance, where it gives you the list of words you have mastered, if it would allow you to click on those to hear each word as you click it, that would get it imbedded in my brain better.
  • Amazing Best language app

First of all I wanna thank you for your excellent app. I can use it on my phone and in my browser in my laptop. There is something that bothers me every time I use my browser and do my language exercises, when I finish it on my laptop and go to my phone, the app strike doesn’t add one more strike and I have to do my exercises again to add one more day strike. I hope you mind this on your updates and keep going excellent. Best regards Hamid Samadi
  • Game Changing Approach to Learning!

    By QueenDork
I have been using a variety of language learning apps every day for more than a year to learn Dutch, German, Portuguese (European), and others. While I have learned a lot with those, I would still have trouble when in the country because the computer generated voices always repeated the words exactly the same and are sometimes hard to understand. Those that do have some human recordings again are always the same and you can’t see their mouths. While I’ve been managing so far, I have grown by leaps and bounds in the very short time I have used this app. The Memrize app took a very novel approach and (most) languages in the app have videos of real people speaking the works in a regular setting (Dutch does not, yet - only recordings. Hopefully they will add that) Each word has multiple people that speak it on camera in a real setting, so you really get to hear all different pronunciations of the same words just like you would if you were there speaking to locals. Each person is “real,” meaning they are just off the street. Some are laughing when they say the word or phrase, some have different inflection, some are very serious, and it appears as thought they are from different areas of the country. All the types of settings you would encounter when people are speaking to you in real life. I started from the very beginning with words I already knew and suddenly the words were so much easier for me to pronounce and to understand. The is absolutely the best way to learn, short of a tutor sitting in front of you, or trial by fire immersed in the country. I hope that as the app develops, we will get to learn more advanced things like sentence structure and also be able to speak words and be tested on them like some of the other apps. And one last thing - the reason I even started with this app is that it has European Portuguese, which is what I needed and is nearly impossible to find! And I Will tell you, being able to see how people move their lips and tongue when they pronounce is huge with this language since many are not pronounced like they are spelled (at least for native English speakers). I highly recommend this tool! And Memrize, keep it growing! This could really be a game changer!
  • Great in all areas!

I used to speak fluent Chinese when I lived in China; however, I never learned all the characters or grammar rules. Now I’m trying to get back what I’ve lost after years of not using it. This app is fantastic! It is extremely clear, delineates the grammar rules brilliantly, uses natives to show the pronunciation, and follows the HSK test outline (I also use that app). I am so excited to find this app. I like it much more than duolingo or other similar vocabulary apps. I’ve tried so many Chinese apps and this is the one I use most. The ONLY thing I wish it had was a way to teach and test writing characters. But for spoken language, it’s really good!
